Our client had been refused consent for a widened vehicle crossover to service their property as a result of the potential impacts on two lime trees located in the verge outside their house.
After we advised on the likley arboricultural constraints on the project we arranged a meeting on site with the client, driveway contractor and the Local Authority; at which we agreed that trial excavation would be appropriate to determine the extent of the root spread of the two trees.
In order to ensure that we didn’t damage any underlying roots we utilised our air spade, and hand digging, to excavate a trial trench along the proposed edge of the crossover. We were able to display that there were no roots present within the area of the proposed crossover which subsequently gained consent for our client.
